FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Can my student have an exhibit in both the Science AND Builders Fair?
A: Students are asked to stand by their projects until the volunteer evaluators visit them. As such they cannot be in two places at once. Additionally space is extremely limited making more that one entry impossible.
Q: Why do we have to register?
A: Interest is very high for this event. Registration allows the volunteers to be prepared so that we can maximize efficiency in the hopes of providing a good experience for everyone. Registration will be open until the first Friday in November
Q: I registered but now I need to switch to the other fair and I need access to a power outlet- what do I do?
A: Please do let us know if you need to switch to the other fair. Just click on the send email button above with any special requests- and be sure to include your name and contact info.
Q: Is this event judged or are prizes given?
A: No judging and no prizes- participation is recognized and rewarded. Feedback is given by volunteers ("Evaluators") and is consistent with the mission of creating a positive learning environment. Children should be encouraged to tell the Evaluator, and all visitors at their display, about their project and answer questions. It is a fun and no-pressure platform for kids to shine and inspire others.
Q: Can students work in groups?
A: Absolutely!! Everything is more fun with friends! Fill out one registration for the project but be sure to include all of your names so that you can each get a certificate!
Q: What exactly is a "Builders Fair" Project?
A: Let your kids define it if they like to build!! In the past we've seen fairy houses, bird houses, Lego creations, rube goldberg machines, windmills, computer programming displays, battery powered contraptions. . .the list could go on and on. If it was built by your child, and no one can get hurt with it- it qualifies.
